Thank you for visiting the SitSpot website. Enrollment for Obedience and Preliminary Agility training classes is now open!

A special thanks to Judy Gamet, the West Coast Representative of the Canine Freestyle Federation, for traveling up to Susanville for the 2nd annual Musical Freestyle Workshop.

We had a great turn-out, (see the photos on the Musical FreeStyla page). Judy taught us so much and everyone vowed to come back next year and bring a friend.

Like Canine Musical Freestyle, Rally and preliminary Agility are fast growing, absolutely fun and interactive way to work with your dog and we will be teaching these courses through-out the next six months

Following is our current line-up of courses.

Baby and Big Dog classes run for 6 weeks, times will be announced at the orientation.

SitSpot is also offering a NEW, "Cross-Training for Dogs" class, that is open for students who have completed Level II Obedience or Preliminary Agility. Cross-Training for Dogs introduces:

* Advanced Heelwork

* Rally

* Musical Freestyle

* Tricks

* Behavior Shaping and more!

Cross-Training for Dogs runs for six weeks registration fee = $75.00

Call for class times 257-3161 or stop by SitSpot Canine Center for a schedule 472-380 Johnstonville Rd (near the Susanville Airport)

Make sure you have our new "9 gets you 10" for 2010 SitSpot Member Card. The program saves you money on retail purchases, boarding, day care, classes and starting this year will get you special invites to our exclusive training and activity events, (like musical free-style).  We have plans to help you and your pal get the most out of your work and play together.

When you pick up your SitSpot card, please make sure you sign up for our email list. That will help us keep you up-to-date on new items we’ve added to the store including: food, treats, tool and gear offerings, important or fun new books as well as SitSpot’s current class schedules.

SitSpot’s “9 gets you 10” Card details: Purchase 9 days of Boarding or Daycare and you get the 10th day free. Each time you spend $10.00 or more with us on training supplies, treats or gear, we stamp your card. When you reach $90.00 you get 10% off your next purchase. This spring you will be able to save on collar and leash sets, training supplies, treats, Puppy Kits as well as books.

It all adds up and is our way of thanking you for your business.

Our Hours: SitSpot is open from 8:00am to 11:30am and from 1:30pm to 5:30pm Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 4:00pm Saturday and is closed Sundays. Ask about courtesy Sunday pickup for boarders.

SitSpot Safety Tips for you and your Spot(s)

Following are some ideas and resources we feel can help you and your pet stay safe, well and happy:

1) If you aren't really qualified to be a breeder, please don't be. Have your pet spayed or neutered (it doesn't make them any less fun, active or real, honest).

2) Whether you have a new Pup or seasoned family member, GOOD manners in and out of the house are important to you all. Training and obedience is important to dog control and safety and whether it is a first time class or a refresher course, training classes are a great way to have fun and keep problem behaviors from developing (or getting out of hand).

3) Be sure you and your dog(s) have a good relationship with your vet. A preventative annual check up is always a good idea and keep current on your shots (whether for boarding, travel or just to avoid seasonal colds etc).

4) Always have identification tags on your pal. Disasters and unexpected trips from the yard can happen and tags help prevent a long worrisome separation. We are happy to provide FREE temporary tags to anyone and have great permanent tags available as well.

5) Keep a disaster kit on hand  with some basic vet supplies, food, blanket and vet records you can grab and run with if you have to.

6) It sounds a bit odd, but have you considered your pet in your will? You can find pet will example on line and it doesn't hurt to include them in your planning so the shelter doesn't have to sort out your pets future in your absence.

Don't forget to consider your dogs diet and the food you are providing. Fortunately for SitSpot customers and guests, we carry only the highest grade of foods and treats available including: Merrick, Canidae, Great Life and Wellness, but there are a lot of foods available and if you remember last year, MANY can be a concern.

If you have any questions regarding foods that were impacted by last year's tragic manufacturing mistake, please visit:http://www.menufoods.com/recall/index.html

Following is a list of recalled canned and pouch-packaged foodsthat was published as a result of last year's per food scandle.
